Taking this company from 3 million to 5 million in a year’s time was no easy feat. Their previous website was not converting and had minimal traffic (1200/year). We launched the new website in May of 2020 and the numbers skyrocketed. Instead of 1,200 hits per year, we average over 1,500 per month, a +700% increase. Yes, you read that right. Next, I worked on building a social media presence and developed digital ads and print marketing campaigns. I was able to utilize my experience with business development by implementing a formal review process for all employees, updated all job descriptions, and set company and department goals.

Creative director– F+W Media Craft Group
Oct. 2016 – June 2017
As a creative director, I co-managed a large team of designers, art directors, illustrators, stylists, photographers & freelancers. This power-house of a department put 180+ magazines & 16+ books to press every year. We worked on all creative assets including marketing campaigns, blogs, web & print ads, in addition to all editorial content. My day-to-day included: developing creative concepts & campaigns, redesigning outdated magazines, liaising between departments, managing production schedules, & mentoring staff to reach their full potential. Crystal clear communication, setting obtainable expectations & positively encouraging my team led me to be a favorite.

As design team manager, I led a department of 10 rock star creatives for the Interweave division. Working tirelessly, I built a comprehensive magazine production schedule for the editorial & design departments. This included mapping the entire work flow & unveiling inefficiencies. We were able to shave weeks off our project time line, add an accountability factor & clearly communicate expectations for everyone in the process. During this time I also put 15 magazines/year to press on time, every time. Phew!

Wow, I loved this job! Designing crafty fashion magazines, planning large scale photo shoots with professional models, beautiful layouts for days. It was a total dream job. I worked on 2 frequency titles & 4 SIPs for a grand total of 14 press days/year. Every single one went to press a day early. Talk about awesome, but, I was ready for more of a challenge. So you can imagine my excitement over my promotion to Design Team Manager!

Welcome to retail marketing, let the race begin. This job was GO, GO, GO all the time which taught me a deep respect for organization & time management. My team worked on 40+ ad campaigns per year including newspaper, FSI, & digital which equated to over 5,000+ designed pages. During my time as Art Director, Cabela’s underwent a total brand transformation. I had the opportunity to design & refine the retail marketing materials. Happy to report, they are still using what I developed!

The job that started my career...Typesetting, proofreading, placing pictures in a box, endless monotony. Quite possibly my least favorite job. But, it kept me motivated to prove myself, to work harder, to excel. I learned from the bottom up. I respect every level because of this job.
